As many clients will know, because of the unpredictable nature of the work, we are not able to cover work in dealing with enquiries and disputes (or the new compliance checks) within our normal annual fee quotes. 

As this is a potentially expensive service to provide on an ad-hoc, "as & when needed", basis we have arranged an insurance policy for the firm to cover our fees and so, for a fixed fee, we can offer an annual Tax Compliance Service to clients.  This operates for the year commencing 24 March with clients joining part way through the year being charged a proportion of the full fee.

NEW 2010

Up until 2009/10 the service was designed to cover full or aspect "enquiries" by HMRC into returns already submitted. This area of tax regulation has now been completely rewritten  and so, in order to better target their work, HMRC now have additional powers to carry out current Compliance Checks at any time involving anything from a letter asking for details of records to an unannounced visit and it seems that full tax enquiries will now take a back seat as these new powers take over.  Our scheme has been updated to cover all new compliance checks as well as enquiries.

In addition to checks into personal and business affairs the service also covers businesses for work and disputes with HM Revenue & Customs over their PAYE & VAT affairs and provides them with free expert telephone guidance on the following areas:

 

• Employment and personnel

• Health and safety

• Payroll

• Commercial and contract law

• Landlord and tenant issues

• Company law

• Consumer protection and licensing

• Copyright and patents

• Debt collection.

 

The scheme for Limited Companies and partnerships also incorporates cover for the personal affairs of the directors and partners we deal with.
